Where to Stay in Downtown Miami, Edgewater and Wynwood

Downtown Miami is the base for cruises, concerts at Kaseya Center, shows at the Arsht Center and the museums on the bay. Edgewater adds bay views to the north, and Wynwood's street art and bars are a short ride away.

The Short Answer

Stay on the bayfront or the Miami River, between the river and about 6th Street, where you can walk to Bayside, Bayfront Park and Kaseya Center and reach the cruise terminals in 5 to 15 minutes. Our pick is the Kimpton EPIC Hotel, whose 16th-floor pool terrace looks out to PortMiami.

Stay in Edgewater, north of the Arsht Center, for bay views and quieter streets at the Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay or the Hilton. Stay in Wynwood, at the Arlo, if street art, galleries and bars matter more than the water. On a budget, YVE Hotel, YOTEL and citizenM Miami Worldcenter are all close to the free Metromover.

Be aware that some Downtown blocks are empty after office hours, and that big events at Bayfront Park, such as Ultra Music Festival on March 26–28, 2027, bring crowds and noise.

Fees and Parking Downtown

Downtown parking is tight and rarely free. YOTEL and citizenM Miami Worldcenter have no on-site parking; YOTEL points guests to a nearby public garage. Arlo Wynwood has valet only and adds an urban fee, and YOTEL and YOTELPAD add a facility fee. If you are cruising, compare a hotel's park-and-stay package with the cruise garages at the port, which charge by the day.
