Where to Stay in Miami with Kids

Miami is easy with children if you stay on the beach and pick a hotel with a pool and space to spread out. The trick is avoiding the party blocks and keeping drives short.

The Short Answer

For most families, the best base is a beachfront hotel in Mid-Beach or the north end of South Beach, around Lincoln Road and Collins Park. You get the beach, big pools and restaurants without the loudest Ocean Drive blocks. Our pick is Loews Miami Beach Hotel, which has the SoBe Kids Club and connecting rooms.

For a quieter week, go north to Sunny Isles Beach (Acqualina's kids' club is free) or Surfside and Bal Harbour, where all-suite hotels are easy to find. Key Biscayne is the calmest of all, but you will drive for most meals.

Tips for Miami with Kids

  • Check the beach flags. Lifeguard towers fly warning flags: green for low hazard, yellow for moderate surf or currents, red for high surf or strong currents, a red flag with a crossed-out swimmer when the water is closed, and purple for dangerous marine life. Always swim near a staffed lifeguard tower.
  • Avoid party hotels. Skip hotels known for DJs and pool parties, and rooms facing Ocean Drive between about 5th and 14th Streets.
  • Plan around March and big events. Spring break crowds fill South Beach in March, and Art Basel (December 4–6, 2026) and other big events push up prices.
  • Think about hurricane season. It runs from June 1 to November 30 and peaks around September 10. Book refundable rates and keep an eye on National Hurricane Center updates.
  • Count the extras. Resort fees and valet parking add up over a week. Suites with kitchens can save money on meals.
